Economics - Mr. Mixon
Class Material:
What is Economics?
Economics is the study of how individuals and nations
make choices about how to use scarce resources to fulfill their
wants. Economics is a part of ALL peoples daily lives. All of us
make decisions about how to use our resources. When you decide
whether to spend your money on clothes or a new CD, you are making
an economic choice. Over the course of our lives, economics will
impact many of the most important decisions we will make. Economics
will aide us in answering the most important questions:
Where should I live?
What occupation should I pursue?
What company should I work for?
How many children should I have?
What kind of car can I afford?
Should I rent or buy a home?
These are only a few of the many economic decisions you will have
to make. Many smaller decisions will have to be made daily. In
order to survive and succeed in the new global economy, basic economic
concepts must be mastered. Hopefully, over the span of this course,
each of you will learn the skills and principles that will guide
you to a happy and lucrative future!
