Culinary Arts - Mr. Tillman
What is the Culinary Art?
Greetings Students, Parents, and Faculty:
We are excited to announce the continuation of our new Culinary Arts Pathway and the opening of our new facility here at Heard County Comprehensive High School. As you know our Culinary Arts Program can bridge the gap between students interest in a career in the culinary & food service industry and the skills needed to succeed in this profitable industry. We stand by this claim by offering three courses: Introduction to Culinary Arts, Culinary Arts I, and Culinary Arts II. Each course is facilitated by an experienced insructor commited to academic excellence by utilizing proven teaching methods to help students achieve their career & academic goals.
According to the National Restaurant Association (NRA) there are some 900,000 restaurants and food service outlets in the United States doing about $476 billion in annual sales. Restaurant sales account for nearly half of every dollar spent on food. Despite our recent economic pitfall and high unemployment, the restaurant industry now employs and estimated 12,2 milion people, making it the nation's largest employer outside of the government. Students enrolled in our industry focus program will gain hands-on experience in a newly built professinally design cooking lab equipped with a techno savvy classroom and offers student computers for research and recipe development.
So come see what's cooking here at HCHS and begin your new life in the culinary industry.
